Does Haise Go Back to Being Kaneki in Part 3 of Tokyo Ghoul
5 /10
Disappointed really but at least it tried
Warning: Spoilers
I really loved the first episode of this series like i really thought it needed two more sequels. In the end it didn't, in fact it didn't need those two more installments in the first place. I felt that this 3rd installement wasn't as good a as the first because it didn't have as much of the great characters it involved. It was rather pasting new characters in to make it look more epic which it didn't. It made me become more distracted from the old characters. I love Kaneki but I wish the likes of Touka, Rize or Hideyoshi would join him.
I'm dissapointed that I didn't enjoy this including Root A but the first one will always be in my heart <3

Lacking everything good about the first two seasons
In the first two seasons all the characters are developed and begin to be familiar to the watcher and are the main part of the story, not in this they aren't. That development is thrown in the bin as Ken loses his memory. Not only that but then they introduce a couple hundred thousand new characters for know reason and begin to follow their meaningless story's which nobody cares about and that has no influence on anything that happens. It stupid how much worse they managed to make this. The action scenes were still good and the final few episodes did give a small bit of redemption mainly because they finally brought back the characters we actually care about. Overall this cannot be compared to the original series, which I am now calling it, it simply isn't as good. 6/10

I am a fan boy but..
First, compared to the other anime based on manga, Tokyo Ghoul :RE is not stretched to the extent that single page of manga will cover whole 20 minutes episode (yes, i am talking about you, Black Clover). It's actually quite the opposite. I feel that the content of the 12 episodes is a bit too compressed and it does not do much favors to the characters, or fluidity of the story. But it's hard to claim that the original manga is flawless as it can be quite confusing, especially with the amount of characters involved in the story at this point.
This sequel is a bit worst than the previous ones. It uses the same elements, same sound bites, same mind flops, but it is mixed weirdly together and the action is fairly full compared to the creativity of the first 2 seasons where every action seems to be more impactful.
Still, it's Tokyo Ghoul, and in 12 episodes, it has a lot of great moments, especially the first half.

You Went Out On A High Note
Even though this is the last season, it also dropped in quality. Way to finish off with a bang. I was looking forward to this, too and I found myself pretty disappointed (and I didn't even read the manga yet). The first thing I noticed is that it does have a much better look. The colors are very nice and character design is great. But every movement is quite stilted, especially when they're fighting. The action scenes are very poor. But that's not the worst part, the whole story feels messy. Things happen without much structure and the pacing is pretty off. The characters are okay, voice acting is good, and the music is still phenomenal. I think Tokyo Ghoul deserves the so called "Brotherhood" treatment. Perhaps WIT Studio or MAPPA. Unless that happens, just stick with the manga.

The quality dropped so much, I feel this is not Tokyo Ghoul anymore.
Too many characters...
To many plot points...
Story happens without any explanation. Is there a story anymore? Just characters added into the mix without resolving the previous character's story. Mindless death and slaughter. Ideas without any sense turned into philosophy.
No, this is not what Tokyo Ghoul is. And I've watched it until the end. In the final 2 episodes, there are some redeeming qualities, but why season 3 exists if it doesn't make any sense?

Can anyone explain. What ruined it that much
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1 is masterpiece without any doubt. Also season 2 is great to watch in my opinion.
But overall both is addictive and nice anime show.
Season 3 is out of my understanding. There is nothing make any sense. Every character already ruined.
Example in season 1 everything start because Mc not able to eat any kind of food but in season 3 in 1st episode Mc cooking curry for everyone.
And half ghouls able to eat??
Season 3 is hard to watch. I used my full focus on storyline and every single details to figure out whats going on in this anime.
Then I realised it's a different anime just name of Tokyo ghoul. And villain names ghoul and nothing.
If you take 'ghoul' word away from s3. Then you can realise
Every character from pervious seasons have totally different personality doesn't Matched a bit. Every logic or possibility from season 1 or 2 is doesn't exist in s3.
It is now Perfectly ruined.

Went from quite interesting to an absolute bore
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed watching the first half, to be honest. It was entertaining and I can feel the tension between Kaneki and Haise. But as it progresses (especially after that sudden change to Romantic genre, yes I still can't accept Kaneki and Touka being together, after Hide suddenly expressed his love for Kaneki), the plot became super boring. I feel like I am watching an entirely different anime. So many plot holes, the characters acted so different from before without any explainations. I was quite confident in the beginning half that it would not end up like the second season. But at the end it failed me completely. Still I have to give 7 stars to the first half. And omggggggg the way Hide say that he did all that just because he loves Kaneki.... my heart aches for him.

it's a waste.
Seriously it have a good plot, but its animation is a tragic. Fighting scene is a major part of the anime, but it's so bad that looks like little kids try to stab other with plastic cutlery. I perfer reading tha manga instead of watching the anime.

Season 3...
The 1-2 seasons was very different and intresting. Nice animation, perfect soundtraks, emotional and deep. Then we have season 3 (2 parts) not bad, but has a weird fast way to develop characters and story. If season 3 was better then we would talk about a fantastic anime, now its Just a good intresting anime. It worth the time to watch it all.

Gather some info before plunging in!
If you haven't read the manga and are planning to watch this series after tokyo ghoul. then I recommend to see the story of manga from youtube or elsewhere that happens after tokyo ghoul. A small but important bit of info is lacking that may create confusion at first. As I don't know why but they have tried to make the anime real shorter. It would have been much better if they had made it more elaborate as in manga. Like this it's really a waste compared to the manga. Nevertheless 7!

Awful
Warning: Spoilers
At first absolutely nothing made sense. I then later found out that apparently the previous 2nd season had nothing to do with the manga and for whatever reason they decided to continue the manga storyline with season 3, hence season 2 is not relevant to kanekis story AT ALL. Now, this is already a problem because season 2 was in my opinion way better than season 1, so the fact that it wouldn't continue there was very disappointing. But alright, I continued watching. At first I thought his new persona of Heise was terrible, but I grew to tolerate him. Yet everyone around him? Terrible. First, almost no past characters plays ANY role for the 3rd season. Instead we get introduced to a dozen of new characters, most of which die almost instantly and the rest get a halfhearted or just plain bad background story. There were so many new names that whenever they discussed another character I had to go on google and search the characters name just to get what was going on. As for those characters that return from season 1&2, they either appear for a couple of minutes during a fight scene or their character arch goes to***. I always disliked Touka, but not only did she do an 180 in the 3rd and 4th season (just a completely different person), but she got even more unlikeable. There were several side stories, such as Shuu's, but since most of those included newly introduced characters, I couldn't have cared less. You know how you usually have 1 storyline you're most interested in and everything else is a bit in the way? Well at some point I had to ask myself, what I was even waiting for. Ultimately, the only character I cared about was juuzou, and he hardly even appears. The most "interesting" characters, Arima and Seidou, weren't really explored any further and Arima got killed off too.
What I disliked the most is that the "dark" feeling of the second season almost completely disappeared; it honestly felt like a different anime altogether, a rather meaningless one without any complexity or emotional substance. The new motives where to seek "peace" between humans and ghouls and all of a sudden Kaneki is supposed to get a happy ending with Touka who's pregnant....? Truly awful. Another big change in this season is that it's slightly more sexualised. That struck me as very strange, since that topic was hardly ever thematised it the first 2 seasons. The only thing I can give it props for is for making gender an interesting aspect, with two characters identifying with the opposite gender throughout the story until a certain point. I stopped watching somewhere in the 4th season because I honestly had to face the fact that the only reason I was watching was because I had watched the first three seasons. But the last thing I wanted to see was an even worse ending. And if all that wasn't bad enough, even the animation wasn't as good as the first 2 seasons. This is by far the worst sequel I have ever experienced.

Sad...
Warning: Spoilers
I personally have never read the manga but from the reviews I have heard I am sure it is amazing but judging solely from this season of Tokyo Ghoul: this story sucks... The convoluted plot is frankly a chore to watch and I found myself wishing I never started so my OCD wouldn't force me to finish this awful season. Everytime the plot would be the same where there would be new ghouls introduced in the same episode to fight either Kaneki or the newly introduced "quinxes" who none of us really cared about as we were more so focused on what had happened to the original characters which the animators made us care about for TWO WHOLE SEASONS. Even when we ended up meeting them, and the story between Kanaki and Touka (which was extremely rushed by the way), I found myself confused at what was going on and who these newly introduced characters were. Lastly the fights and characters were so underwhelming and the final fight lasted half an episode which is frankly ridiculous for a final climax fight- time could have simply been taken from the stupid story of the quinx family instead of the final fight. Overall my advice would be to look for reviews on the manga in comparison with this anime, watch the first season at least as it is amazing and watch some animes worth your while i.e. a series that has consistent quality e.g. death note, attack on titan and even Naruto which has a more structured plot despite being the most stretched out anime in existence.

Wtf is this?! It's nothing compared to the manga. This anime is really different from the manga. Season 1 was OK, Season 2 was horrible. And now this!? Studio Pierrot, please...stop ruining this series. This is one my favorites manga

OKAY!!
Warning: Spoilers
I preferred season 1 & 2, purely because it was more interesting. I just felt that In the last two, they were just trying to drag it on, and things started to get rather confusing. Only the manga showed how Kaneki became Hasaki, so must of been rather confusing for Anime only watchers. Still watch it though! I was an avid fan so had to watch it. I have multiple posters from seasons 1 & 2 but only one of season 3.

Delivers again!
Once again the series brings an intense emotional rush during scenes with this season. However, it is hard to say it's on par with the the first seasons. It is still very worth watching.

Warning: Spoilers
Season 3
This review is only based on the anime of season 3. The plot of this anime is good but the execution of the plot is terrible and very confusing, the characters were very boring and generic and didn't have any character depth, the animation was bad at most it would be considered okay at some points it was very sloppy but it just wasn't appealing to watch. The music was whatever I really enjoyed the opening song but other than that it was very forgettable.
Story - 3/10 When watching the first episodes of season 3 of Tokyo Ghoul I was intrigued and wanted to know how the rest of the show was going to play out, sadly I was very disappointed and was left confused. The season literally has no plot line at all, it's just a lot of the Quinx group fighting ghouls and a lot of meaningless characters. Even after I finished the season I still don't know what I watched. Apparently the story line is supposed to be that Ken Kaneki is now Haise Sasaki who is a quinx (a group of one eyed ghouls fighting ghouls) and can't remember his past life but even when the season ends, he never gets his memories back or does he???? Near the end of the season when fighting his hair turns black and he is supposedly his past self again, meaning he got his memories. I just wished that he got his memories back in a better way instead of just randomly turning into his past self and staying his past self. I have no idea what this season was about and ended up being so confused about everything.
Characters - 2/10
Wayyyyyy too many characters are in this season and most of them just end up getting introduced and then dying without any character depth. The show even tries for some of the villains to have some character depth but it just seems so boring and useless. Most of the characters in the show are very plain and boring, such as anyone from the Quinx. The personalities and objectives of these characters are also so dumb except for the guy who ends up passing away. There's the girl who only plays games, there's the edgy guy who just wants credit, there's that one guy who looks like a girl. But even most of the villains are just so stupid, we have the nutcracker who they try to make her have some character depth, but literally all she wants is to be pretty? No, seriously that's her character depth. Even when it came to characters from the past season they just CHANGED, Touka Kirishima literally has no personality what so ever anymore, her brother just isn't the same at all. For a show that is basically revolved around the characters, you would think that they would have good characters and some depth but nope, you are just left feeling confused, annoyed and bored.
Animation and Fighting - 3/10 Let's start with talking about the animation, so overall the animation was whatever nothing amazing nothing terrible just very bland, basic and sloppy at times. When it comes down to the fighting it's also just bland but its very boring like VERY boring. Not once did I get hyped up for a fight scene I just sat there looking at the screen waiting for something to happen. What I also realized when watching the fighting scenes was that literally every time Haise Sasaki was fighting he would have to change into Kanekae to become stronger, it would have been fine if they did this once or twice but THEY DO THIS EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Music - 4/10 The music was decent, I loved the opening song but other than that most of the other songs in the season are easy to forget.
Overall, watching this season was a waste of time. When I finished watching the season I felt so drained, I literally feel like I lost energy by watching this season. Just don't watch it, just don't.

It's awful.
Warning: Spoilers
At a meeting somewhere in Japan an anime executive must have stood up and asked, "How can we make this anime series sequel terrible?" It's as if someone systematically removed everything that was unique, different, or interesting from the Tokyo Ghoul franchise, and replaced it all with tired, worn out anime tropes. Now it's full of cocky, brooding, posing, hero-types. And a sword, someone needs to have a plain old sword (fans love swords). And all the main characters, let's make them all kind of 18 to 21, young and sexy, that's what we want (marketing says the demographic skews this way). And only one freak half-ghoul? Screw that, lots of them! And they fight the ghouls because... well, whatever. They can be tortured souls then, who cares.
I don't know what show people were watching when they left their ratings, but it couldn't be the same one I watched. The show I watched was so thoroughly generic it was like it was designed using every anime cliche they could think of. I don't think there was a cute mascot creature-thing, but don't quote me on that, I didn't watch it all the way through. I couldn't take much of it. And I didn't see any cute super-deformed bits, but again I wouldn't be surprised to see some in it.
Save yourself the disappointment I've experienced and skip this.

Disappointing direction
The 1st 2 seasons were really fantastic and were a continuation of the same timeline.
This season jumps ahead into the future, and without having read the original manga, the story is very confusing for the 1st half of the season. Various MAJOR changes have taken place without any explanation or context regarding integral (and much loved) characters which is extremely confusing and ultimately leads to initial frustration. What makes matters more challenging is the change in animation style, with various characters looking different.
This is probably why the reviews for this season are so mixed! And to be honest, I originally gave this season a 5/10. I was very annoyed at where the series had gone.
That being said, the 2nd half of the season is much much better. The story has loads of pay-offs that you're hoping for and the story is very engaging. Character archs come to fruition in mostly satisfying ways and the season as a whole was ultimately very enjoyable. I thought the main villain was a little weak to be honest, but there were many secondary bad guys that were very memorable, particular the priest.
I enjoyed this season far more on 2nd viewing as I understood the various characters better and could follow the story arch in more depth.
At the end, after 2 viewings, I believe this season is a high 7, even 8 out of 10. With season 1 and 2 being high 8s or 9s.
